Novgorod, founded in
A.D. 862, played an essential role in Russia’s formation and is the

beautiful places in Russia; the Volkhov River and ancient architectural

Day One:
Arrive in Novgorod
On the way to Novgorod you will enjoy beautiful expanses of the Russian
poetic landscape while passing by cheerfully colorful wooden houses
along the road. Upon arrival in Novgorod you will have lunch in the most
famous local restaurant located in the tower of the city’s Kremlin, and
start the cultural exploration of the city with the oldest in Russia
Kremlin’s grounds. This fascinating medieval fortress was mentioned in
chronicles as early as in 1044. Marvel at the ancient frescoes inside
the Cathedral of
St. Sophia, the Holy Wisdom of God, built in 1045, which is the oldest
standing Russian stone monument. Continue discovering the country’s rich
history and culture at Yaroslav’s Courtyard.
Your free evening is a wonderful time to sample the regional cuisine and
interact with locals.
Day Two:
Discover Russian Multifaceted Ethnic
and Cultural Palette
Learn first-hand about traditional Russian crafts during a visit to a
local Folk Arts Center where you will be invited to become an active
participant in a workshop hosted by local craftsmen and create your own
masterpiece as a good memory of this hospitable city.
You’ll celebrate your and your fellow travelers’ creations over a
traditional Russian tea party with delicious pancakes cooked with lots
of love. One more important note for shopping-lovers: Novgorod is indeed

for Russian traditional souvenirs, so don’t
miss your chance! We continue our discovery of Novgorod with the
Open-Air Museum of Wooden Architecture for an opportunity to learn about
old Russian traditions and way of life in a Russian village centuries
ago. Russian ladies in bright authentic national costumes will welcome
you on the museum grounds. Continue to St. George Monastery and ponder
its nearly 900-year history while interacting personally with monks and
witnessing their daily lives.

Afternoon and Evening
in St. Petersburg
Following a motor coach ride to
St. Petersburg, enjoy one last afternoon in this “Venice of the North.”
